This is an excellent workout. I have worn out several of these NordicTrack ski machines – it takes me about 6 years of use then they are pretty much shot. You can replace the critical parts but the better way is to find a used one in excellent condition that was built in Minnesota when they first came out. The later units made in Asia are built to the same drawings but you will quickly discover the quality is not the same.
The workout is about 7 – 14 METS depending on how you set up the upper body and tension on the skis. Not everyone finds it easy to use, unless you have a fairly good sense of balance it can be awkward.
